State police also want you to look out for potential gas thieves. And call police, if you see a stranger looking at cars in your neighborhood. Stealing gas is a felony in Indiana worth up to a year in prison.
Four arrested in Austin for drug charges
An undercover drug investigation leads to the arrest of four people in Austin. The arrests happened Friday afternoon at an apartment complex on Dehart Drive. During their investigation, undercover detectives found that several people were allegedly selling and buying Oxycontin pills at the complex. Police arrested the Apartment Manager 75-year-old Clara Combs on drug dealing charges. At the time of her arrest, officers recovered more than 23-thousand dollars from Combs' apartment. Also arrested on drug charges were 57-year-old Ola Baker and 76-year-old Elisha Whitehead of Austin and 32-year-old Karla Coomer of Borden.
Former soldier commits suicide in jail
State Police are investigating an Indiana soldier's death after it is ruled a suicide. 23-year-old Army Specialist Timothy Israel was found hanging in a holding cell at the Elwood Police Department on Friday. Israel was arrested earlier that day for suspicion of domestic battery after an argument with a former girlfriend. He was pronounced dead Friday afternoon. The Madison County Coroner later ruled the death a suicide. Elwood Police have asked State Police to investigate videotapes taken from the cellblock monitoring system.
